Sara + Qasim = Married

If there is a couple that knows how to have fun together it is Sara and Qasim. Over the course of three days in July I had the tremendous task of covering my first South Asian wedding. I wish I could explain in words what the experience was like, but it is posing to be a more difficult task then expected. There was lots of singing, dancing and sense of family over the three day celebration. Like nothing I have ever experienced before, it was an amazing experience and hope it is not my last. As a photographer I have the honour of being a part of the process during the preparatory and days events. I have a deep appreciation for the amount of detail that both the bride and groom put into their special day. In Sara and Qasim’s celebration each and every day (3 total days!!) they exemplified meticulous organization while being able to create such a fun environment for their guests. Congratulations on your marriage Sara and Qasim, you two were phenomenal!

Erin + Mike = Married

This July I had the opportunity to shoot Erin & Mike’s wedding. It was a fantastic time, filled with lots of laughs and lots of dancing. Every wedding is very unique and there were many little touches to Erin & Mike’s wedding that made it very personalized to them. First of all the use of organic greens in their meals was fantastic and what I found particularly amazing was in replacement to traditional give aways Erin and Mike chose to make a donation to their choice of charity. This is something that I have yet to see at any wedding and it was a perfect example of Erin and Mike as a couple; always looking out for the best benefit of others. This was also particularly evident during the reception as they were very conscious of all of their guest, ensuring that everyone was having a great time. This made me feel more at ease with their guest and welcomed to capture the candid shots on the white screen. Thank you Erin & Mike and most of all Congratulations!

Melanie + Curtis = Married

Last month Mel and Curtis got married!  It was such a fantastic time and I must pay thanks to both of them for making me feel very welcomed on their special day.  The day was full of fun, lots of sun and clouds (great for photos)!  During the whole celebration you could definitely feel the love that was felt for all of the family members.  Lots of laughs, lots of dancing and most of all lots of love.  Congratulations you two!!

Mary+Rob = Married

Firstly, I must say congratulations to Mary and Rob. Your wedding was a true extension of your love and I am very honoured as your friend and photographer that you chose me to cover your special day. Your attention to detail during your wedding, your hard work and effort was definitely displayed on Saturday and I hope that I was able to give you both an extension of that in these photos.

I am very happy to be posting these photos. As my second wedding and first of the year I am more then enthused about some of the frames that I have captured. However, as I reflect on the day I realized that I learned a tremendous amount both about photography and love, lessons that are only learned when you are in the experience but something that you will never forget. Thank you both for sharing your special day with me! Enjoy.

Mary + Rob = Married (sneak peak)

More to come tomorrow! Congrats Mary & Rob!!

Mary + Rob = Engaged

It has been a while since I have posted.  I apologize, but biochemistry and pathology have been kicking my butt for the past few months.

This weekend Mary & Rob asked me to shoot their engagement and it was great to finally be able to put some of the pent up creativity to use.  It is always nice to get out there and put some of the inspiration that I have gathered from fellow photographers, artist, etc. and combine them with my surroundings and my own thoughts.  The best part was it was  a great break from studying and most importantly; crazy fun!!  As a photographer it can be quiet challenging to pre-plan your shoots.  It is definitely something that can consume you, but from my experience being aware of your surroundings during the shoot is probably more important then the pre-planning.  I find when I engage myself in the surrounds and play off of my clients energy some of my best work comes to fruition.

As the wedding season nears, I am looking forward to putting more of my inspiration to use!!  Also, keep an eye out for some new fashion and hair work coming this summer from myself and some partners!

I do have to give mention to both Mary and Rob, it was probably one of the coldest days and it is pretty evident that they were able to have fun despite the weather.  Congratulations Mary & Rob, your wedding is going to be amazing!  Looking forward to it!

Gill Family

A few weeks back I got an email from Bhupinder Gill, a relative of the Aulakh Family, she was enthused to do a photoshoot with me and as always I was very excited to hear from a new client.  After realizing that the Gill family was quite large, I automatically had many different ideas for the photo shoot.  Though this is the largest family that I have had to shoot thus far, it was very fun and the 4 boys kept me on my toes for the full shoot.  It was so nice to see that each and everyone of the children had their own personality and I am sure you will be able to tell from the photos.  If I had to sum it up, very charismatic!  I find that this is all too important as a photographer to be able to make your clients comfortable with you which always seems to bring out the fun and charismatic sides of people.  Thank you to the Gill family, I look forward to future photoshoots with you!

All the best,
Jason!

Couple: Jess & John

Sometimes it’s not just about engagement photos :) It also fun to meet a couple and do a photoshoot with them to capture their relationship on camera and Jess and John definitely made it a great time. I also have to say they definitely knew how to work the camera. I have to give a thumbs up to both of them. Also, Jess an aspiring makeup artist did a great job, keep a look out for some of her work with me next year!

Melanie + Curtis = Engaged!

At the end of the summer Melanie and Curtis has asked me to do an engagement session with them, the one thing that stood out the most was that these two were deeply in love. As much as they were able to have fun I could always see this little twinkle in both of them that completely emanated how much they were really in love. These definitely came through in the photos and I am very pleased with what we achieved together.

The shoot was done in Barrie, ON and I was forced to think quick and was put on my toes. Can’t wait till the Wedding Mel and Curt!

Aulakh Family

Two weekends ago I did a family photo shoot for the Aulakh family. I have to give them kudos for many things, most especially their ability to have fun in front of the camera. This is all too important for the little one to see that the parents are having fun; I am sure in their photos you will be able to see that overall it was such a fun shoot. This also made it much easier for me to interact with their daughter Sarina to get a majority of these photos. Secondly, they were willing to do almost any type of activity/pose in front of the camera and this also give me the opportunity to get a various amounts of photos. Overall, I must say thank you to the Aulakh family it was a fun day.
